Davao City – Historic rivalries between the world’s top two Japanese motorcycle brands when it comes to legal street-designed track races reprises anew in the 2025 ENEOS Motor Oil Regional Underbone Grand Prix (RUGP).
Leg One of the 2025 ENEOS Motor Oil RUGP which was part of The Racing Line’s 20th anniversary reeled off 6 April at the NCCC Victoria Plaza grounds here which saw some 60 entries from Mindanao and the Visayas Region.
Yamaha Racing Philippines anchored by local rider April King Mascardo who bagged two titles in Leg One along with international motocross rider and ENEOS Motor Oil endorser Bornok Mangosong of team Yamaha BM111 who was back on street racing anchored the “Blue” factor as countered by Ephraim Onahon, a rider based in Bukidnon for team Honda Project M bannered the “Red” counterpart.
Also seeing action for the Honda Motorcycle side saw Onahon’s teammate Jaypee Obedencio while Deo Pondoc and 12 year-old Kyro Mangosong also took part for Yamaha BM111 Racing.
“Its good to know rivalries are back not only for Yamaha and Honda brands but also riders from Visayas and Mindanao who took part in this intense Leg One of the ENEOS Motor Oil RUGP,” said The Racing Line Proprietor ands Race Chairman of the RUGP Jonathan Uy.
Categories contested on Leg One included the Honda Winner X, Scooter 160 Open, Underbone 155 LTD Intermediate, Underbone Open GP, Underbone 155 LDT SP, Diablo Cup Underbone 155 LDT GP, Diablo Scooter 125 LDT, the LYR Moto-VMan Underbone 155 LDT Beg and the LYR Moto-VMan Scooter 125 LTD Beg.
The LYR Moto-VMan Races featured novice riders with saw Kim Jay Leorna, Jr Qguimas and John Tonido on a 1,2,3 finish in the Underbone 155 LDT Beginners and the trio of Jones Collados, Keneth Aguelo and Kent Basalo at the winners podium for the Scooter 125 LDT Beginners, in that order.
Leg Two is set on June 15 in Tagum City to be followed by the Visayas legs which will be on September 14 at Panglao, Bohol then the last leg in Cebu City on October 15.
